Being "lost in the supermarket" is my interpretation of my experience with grief from losing a parent as a young adult. I like to use this reference in terms of relating to the inner child and the part of it that is experiencing for the first time. In this work I have portrayed a large setting to signify the feeling of being small from the surroundings (which is something I felt often during my mourning). My experience has made me feel lost in terms of the time being while becoming a young adult and discovering myself where most still need guidance into adulthood. I chose to use this reference as something that can bring down a big experience to something that can be compared to something that is relatable and easily understood.
